Meaning you can have bricks on the inside and some cute chicken wallpaper on the outside, if you wanted.
There's no rules as to how you have to paint your house, either. You can paint entire rooms, or put up a variety of wacky wallpapers one section at a time. After you build your base, there are hundreds of options to paint both the inside and outside of your house. You can even add individual items from stylizied rooms if you get inspired while looking through the rather Ikea-esque catalogue. You can purchase stylized rooms for in-game money for every type of room (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, etc.) and they vary in price from cheap, for the standard models, to very expensive, for the fancier options. If you don't want to make your own rooms, you can choose to drop in a completely stylized room, built by The Sims 4 developers, straight into your house. There are a variety of template rooms available to play with in all in different shapes and sizes, or you can create your own. You can also select three different options for wall height, so with the click of a button your rooms can have nice high walls or short ones. Nothing's locked in to place either, so if you accidentally put a wall where you don't want it, you can easily adjust it to the perfect position. Instead, you can simply push, pull, and rotate entire rooms out to wherever you'd like them. When building a new house, you no longer have to place individual walls. The entire build mode in The Sims 4 has been revamped, and while those who have played The Sims before will notice some similarities, it's now so much easier to actually create and customize your Sims' humble abodes. Still, some folks continued to get a lot of enjoyment from building homes, and now with The Sims 4, it's simple to both create your perfect Sims, and wonderful places for them to live thanks to a few powerful new tools.
But as it turns out, the magic came from allowing them to create and control the people that went into the house. The original concept of The Sims was to give players a way to create a house.
